Addis Alem

After a long and bumpy ride we finally arrived at the beautiful little village Addis Alem at around 10 o’clock in the morning. All the villagers came to welcome us with singing, traditional dancing and lots of popcorn. After the welcoming ceremony some women took us to the water source where they had to walk to multiple times a day in order to get water for their families. Seeing how animals did their business in the water that was just filled into the women’s Jerry Cans was heartbreaking. This made it all the better when we inaugurated the new well and celebrated life an hour later. What a moment.
